The Aurean argument for the dispute is that since Constantine is the founder of New Sarovia, he has every right to transfer the titles to whomever he deems fit to receive them, as he did with Marty, Brianna, and other Sarovian monarchs. Aurean founder Kevlar Vaughn has stated that the Aurean Empire has no way to truly enforce Constantine from playing in the New Sarovian Empire or leading it due to the fundamentals of Graal, but that the event gave the Aurean Empire a valid roleplay claim on the titles included in the Act of Relinquishment.

The Sarovian argument for the dispute is twofold. The primary argument is in direct response to the Aurean argument - statements made by Kevlar immediately after the ceremony in an argument with former Sarovian Martius indicate that Constantine has the power to do whatever he wishes with Sarovian titles, including agreeing that Constantine could at any moment "strip titles from [Aurea]". The second Sarovian argument for the dispute is that of a legal argument - that Constantine was neither King or Emperor of the New Sarovian Empire at the time (he had retired in May of the year, but did not even hold the titles in all of 2020) and such a transfer of titles was legally impossible. Likewise, the Sarovian constitution that was written in May of 2020 specifically stated that nobody could hold the Sarovian throne unless certain requirements were met, and Kevlar and his Aurean successors did not legally meet any requirements.

The Saro-Aurean Crown Dispute is a legal dispute between the Aurean Empire and the New Sarovian Empire over Sarovia's sovereignty.

History

The dispute began in early September of 2020, when Constantine Vasa and Richard Vaughn were discussing a possible deal to hand over the titles and positions of the New Sarovian Empire to Kevlar Vaughn. The initial proposal from Constantine Vasa was to surrender numerous titles, positions and the New Sarovian Empire's overall sovereignty, in return for Kevlar Vaughn's erasure of Constantine and his achievements from numerous public records of the Graal Military Community, namely the Wiki, in an attempt to force himself to stay away from the game and not be remembered.

The deal was negotiated in Richard's guild house between Constantine and Kevlar, where half of Constantine's proposal was agreed to, with Kevlar expressing both his inability and lack of desire to partake in the erasure of any historical records. It was Richard Lux who promised Constantine that Kevlar would fulfill his obligations or Richard himself would fulfill them. Constantine claims Kevlar said he would do his best to achieve it, whereas Kevlar claims he said in the moment it was impossible. Nonetheless, the two who actually negotiated the deal and were all present at the Constantine-Kevlar backroom talks, Richard Vaughn and Constantine Vasa, were both under the impression that Kevlar did pledge to work on erasing Constantine from history.

On the 20th of September, Kevlar gathered many prominent members of the GMC to witness the transfer of titles from the New Sarovian Empire to the Aurean Empire. The ceremony was publicly announced, with dozens of delegates from nations such as Imperia, Aurea, Oxeria and Maveria in attendance to bear witness, as well as two Sarovian junior officers, who were appointed as Knights of the Order of the New Sarovian Empire especially for the occasion. The File:Act of Abdication and Relinquishment.pdf was written by Constantine to officialize the matter and all parties were considered satisfied.

In the event, Constantine provided a quick speech reinforcing the validity of his forfeiture and then proceeded to speak against both Aurea and Peter Rhodes before promptly going offline. Constantine continued to petition for the full deal to be upheld while Kevlar immediately changed course, refusing any deal was made. As such, the deal was breached with Constantine citing Kevlar's inaction on his primary condition as one of many justifications to break the deal, whereas Kevlar cites that because it was not written, it did not exist. Nonetheless, messages with the man who created the deal, Richard Lux, prove otherwise to some degree.

Some examples of Sarovian arguments.

Aside from the Act of Relinquishment, no other legally binding contract or deal was written and signed. Constantine's reason for reneging on his word as well as what the exact terms of the backroom dealings that lead to this controversial event devolves into both a personal and a Sarovian reasoning. Sarovian arguments revolve around both statements Kevlar said in the past, publicly declaring should Constantine return Sarovia would be his, and due to his status as the founder of Sarovia he has the final say in all elements of it. There is also a legal argument - Constantine was neither King nor Emperor the year the Act of Relinquishment was signed, making the law impossible. Likewise the Sarovian constitution which was written months before the Act of Relinquishment forbids any cadet branches of the House of Vasa, amongst other conditions, from ever holding the Sarovian throne, legally making the Vaughn claim null and void in the eyes of Sarovian law.
